Editorial Policy

Last updated: June 2026 · Tollywood Focus Kolkata

Tollywood Focus Kolkata is an independent Bengali entertainment news publication based in Kolkata. This Editorial Policy explains how we gather, verify, write and publish our stories, and the standards every member of our team is expected to uphold.

Our editorial mission

We cover Bengali cinema (Tollywood), television serials, web series, OTT releases, music and celebrity news for readers in West Bengal and the wider Bengali-speaking audience. Our goal is to report accurately, fairly and in plain Bangla, while respecting the people we write about and the readers who trust us.

How we source our stories

Our reporting is based on a combination of first-hand reporting, official announcements from studios, production houses, broadcasters and OTT platforms, press releases, verified social-media posts from public figures and their official handles, and on-record interviews conducted by our team. Where a claim originates from another outlet, we say so and, wherever possible, independently confirm it before publishing.

Original reporting first

We prioritise original work — our own interviews, observations and verified information. We do not copy articles from other websites. When we build on information first reported elsewhere, we credit the original source and add our own verification, context or reporting.

Verification and accuracy

Before a story is published we check it against the standards set out in our Fact-Checking Policy. We try to confirm significant claims with at least one reliable source, and we clearly label anything that is rumour, speculation ("জল্পনা") or unconfirmed. Headlines reflect the substance of the story and are not written to mislead.

Clear separation of fact and opinion

News reports are kept factual. Reviews, opinion pieces and analysis are presented as such so readers always know whether they are reading a report or a writer's view.

Bylines and accountability

Every article carries the name of the journalist or editor responsible for it, linking to that person's profile. Editorial decisions ultimately rest with the Editor-in-Chief. We take responsibility for what we publish, and we correct mistakes openly under our Corrections Policy.

Editorial independence

Our editorial decisions are made independently of any commercial, advertising or political interest. Advertising and sponsored content, where present, are kept separate from editorial coverage and labelled. See our Ownership & Funding page for details.

Corrections, updates and right of reply

We update developing stories as new information emerges and note material changes. Any individual or organisation who believes we have published something inaccurate or unfair may contact us through our Grievance Redressal page, and we will review the matter promptly.

Images and copyright

We use images we are licensed to use, official promotional material, or images credited to their source. If you are a rights-holder and believe an image has been used incorrectly, please write to us and we will act quickly.
